Super Eagles duo of Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi were on parade for Leicester City as they lost 3-1 on a penalty shootout to holders Manchester City in EFL (Carabao) Cup.
The game ended 1-1 draw after regulation time with Ndidi provided the assist for Leicester’s equalizer scored by Marc Albrighton after City took the lead through fit again Kevin De Bruyne.
Iheanacho was given a rare chance to lead Leicester attack and he almost repaid his coach with a goal as he was presented with the chance to restored parity for the hosts with 13 minutes left before the halftime break, but his snapshot went wide.
With less than 15 minutes to the end of the game, Ndidi capped impressive display with a great pass to set up Marc Albrighton whose volley was too much for Muric in goal for City.
Iheanacho was replaced by Ricardo Pereira with nine minutes left on the clock.
Manchester City went on to win the game 1-3 after a penalty shootout to end Leicester City’s advent in the tournament.
