Eight Nigerian players were drafted into NBA last night, including D’Tigers star Jordan Nwora.
The draft was held in the early hours of Thursday and a record eight Nigerian players made the cut into the the lucrative NBA with different teams.
The son of former D’Tigers coach, Jordan Nwora drafted by Milwaukee Bucks, while Udoka Azubuike drafted by Utah Jazz.
Precious Achiunwa also drafted by the Heat, while American born Isaac Okoro drafted by Cleveland Cavaliers.
Onyeka Okongwu and Zeke Nnaji were drafted by the Atlanta Hawks and the Denver Nuggets respectively.
Daniel Oturu was drafted by the Timberwolves, but could be traded to the Knicks and Desmond Bane joined Boston Celtic.
Meanwhile an excited Pat Riley who heads basketball operations at the Heat said about selecting Achiuwa:
“We are very excited to have him. We think he fits in perfectly… I’m excited that at 20 we were able to find a player who is that good and who has that kind of quality.”
Meanwhile Jordan Nwora will now join two-time reigning league MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo at Milwaukee.
