Napoli’s manager, Rudi Garcia has provided an update on Victor Osimhen’s recovery progress.
Since his injury while on international duty last month, Osimhen hasn’t played for the Serie A champions.
The 24-year-old has been in Nigeria with the club’s permission, and he is anticipated to return to Italy next week, as confirmed by Garcia.
“He made an agreement with the club, I spoke to him through messages, the doctors assure me that he is following the program, everything is fine, and he will be with us next week,” the gaffer was quoted by Football Italia.
“It’s not that I don’t care, but whether it’s Osimhen or Russo, injured together, cannot play and therefore I focus on who can play.”
The striker is expected to miss Nigeria’s World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
Peseiro will name his squad for the game later next week, with Taiwo Awoniyi set to be included after missing the friendlies against Mozambique and Saudi Arabia, through injury.
