Skipper Onome Ebi has revealed that she has had a very good relationship with her Falcons teammates and happy to mentor the youngsters in the team.
Ebi is not only the oldest player in the squad, but also the most experienced and captain of the team.
She made her senior national team debut back in 2003 and has gone on to feature in over hundred matches for the team.
Speaking on her journey with the team, Ebi paid tribute to the players who helped her settle in the squad and reveals she’s trying to have impact on the young talents in the team.
“I met a lot of big names when I came into the team, like Mercy Akide, Nkiru Okosieme, Kikelomo Ajayi and many more.” She told BrilaFM.
“I was scared the first time I enter the dressing room because these are legends already.
“But I have good relationship with everyone, and I’m trying to do the same with the younger players coming through now.
“I’m enjoying working with them, They gave me a nickname “mama Onome”, because I’m like the mother of the team.”
Ebi, 40, also spoke on how she’s guiding the youngsters through the early part of their Super Falcons journey.
“I feel good with the players, though I don’t talk much outside, but with the team, I’m a different character.
“I don’t know where the strength comes from, but I do have respect of everyone and I respect them in return.”
