Stanley Nwabali, expressed his elation at reaching the final of the Africa Cup of Nations, describing it as a dream come true.
In a thrilling semi-final match against South Africa on Wednesday, Nwabali emerged as the hero in the penalty shootout.
The Nigerian saved penalty attempts from Thaebo Mokoena and Evidence Makgopa, before the dramatic victory was sealed with Kelechi Iheanacho’s conversion.
Nwabali’s outstanding performance earned him the “man of the match” award, his first in the tournament.
“Seeing myself winning the man of the match (award) and also going to the final is a dream come true,” the 27 year-old said.
“Credit to my coaches, because when it’s penalty time, they guide me a lot.”
