Super Eagles winger Ahmed Musa has refuted recent reports suggesting he has retired from the National team.
Musa clarified his status amidst rumors circulating after his absence from Nigeria’s recent campaigns.
During the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) earlier this year, Musa did not play in any of Nigeria’s seven matches, where the team secured the runners-up position.
Additionally, he was omitted from the squad for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic.
His last appearance for the national team was a brief seven-minute stint in a friendly against Guinea in January.
Furthermore, Musa has been without a club since February, when his contract with Turkish side Sivasspor was terminated.
Addressing the media following a friendly match he organized, Musa clarified, “I only took a brief break from the national team. I have not retired,” He emphasized this during a press interaction in Kaduna.
Musa holds the record as Nigeria’s top scorer in FIFA World Cup history, underscoring his significance to the national team.
