Mosimane Eyes Super Eagles Job

Pitso Mosimane has openly declared his readiness to take on the managerial responsibilities of the Super Eagles.

The South African currently without a position since departing from Saudi Arabian club, Al Wahda in early November, emerged as a prominent candidate amidst speculation surrounding Jose Peseiro’s tenure.

The Nigeria Football Federation is not impressed with the performance current boss Peseiro and could relieve the Portuguese from his position should the team failed to meet expectations at the coming African Cup of Nations.

The Super Eagles started 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification campaign with disappointing draw against lowly rated Lesotho and Zimbabwe.

“The Nigeria job is one I would consider, but it would also depend on whether they want the team to be led by an African. Because the only African coach they had was Stephen Keshi,” Mosimane was quoted by Kick-off.

“That is also a challenge because there have been a lot of white people on the job; whether we believe in our African coaches like Morocco, Senegal, Algeria, and Egypt remain to be seen.”

“I don’t want to talk too much about the Nigerian job links because there is still a coach there and it’s important that I respect that,” He said.

Mosimane won the CAF Champions League with Al Ahly and guided Al Wahda to the Saudi top division last season.
