Spanish forward, Alvaro Morata has declared himself fit for West Brom clash on Monday night despite Antonio Conte saying his back injury could keep him ‘out for the season’
Morata has been struggling with a back injury and has not played since being sent off against Norwich City on January 17.
Conte said on Friday he didn’t know whether the striker’s absence would stretch a further ‘day, a month or the rest of the season’ — but Morata now says he has ‘no problem’.
Commenting on a clip posted by wife Alice of the Spain striker dancing and lifting her up, Morata wrote: ‘Its old video. I’m not injury I’m ok for the game tomorrow. A Lot of critics now.. but no problem for me! (sic)’
Morata has 10 goals in 20 Premier League appearances but has faced criticism after a recent slump, his back problem and a public pining for a return to Real Madrid. The clip posted by his wife on Sunday night sparked questions from supporters about his commitment after Conte had spoken about the severity of his back injury.
As a matter of fact, the 25-year-old is ready to hand his manager a huge boost after back-to-back defeats and ahead of a key period of the season.
The West Brom game is followed by an FA Cup tie against Hull City and the first leg of Chelsea’s Champions League last-16 clash with Barcelona, which could define their silverware hopes.
Trips to the Premier League’s top two Manchester United and Manchester City follow.
Morata has not scored since Boxing Day
when he netted a header in Chelsea’s win over Brighton. New signing Olivier Giroud is also available for selection tonight.
