Montpellier Teammate Backs Struggling Adams
96
Montpellier forward, Arnaud Nordin has thrown his support behind teammate Akor Adams, who has been enduring a goal drought in Ligue 1 since last October.
Adams, who initially started the season strongly, has struggled to find the back of the net in his last twelve appearances in the French top flight after scoring a brace in Montpellier’s 3-0 victory over Toulouse.
Despite his recent dry spell, the 23-year-old had made a promising start to life in France, netting 7 goals in his first ten games, which attracted interest from clubs like West Ham and AC Milan.
However, Adams’ recent form has seen him drop to the bench for the first time this season during Montpellier’s 3-0 win over Metz on matchday 22 of the Ligue 1.
Nordin, expressing his confidence in Adams, emphasized that it’s common for attackers to go through periods of slack form.
He highlighted Adams’ quality and work ethic, expressing optimism that the goals will come back naturally.
As Montpellier battles to maintain their top-flight status, they will be counting on Adams to rediscover his scoring touch, especially as they hover just outside the relegation zone on goal difference.
“As you have seen, Akor has a lot of quality. It happens to a lot of attackers to have a slack period.”
“I have complete confidence in him, he is someone who works a lot. So I think it will come back, he shouldn’t be totally focused on that, because it could make him thwart, but naturally, it will turn around and I will be the first happy for him as soon as he gives us goals,” he was quoted by Allezpaillade.
