Monday Gift reacts Super Falcons’ WAFCON semi-final Defeat

Monday Gift has expressed disappointed over Nigeria’s semi-final defeat at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations to hosts Morocco.

Nigeria failed to reach the final of the tournament, as Morocco secured victory via penalties to book their first ever finals.

Halimatu Ayinde and Rasheedat Ajibade were given matching orders after respective VAR reviews adjudged both players to have been culpable for dangerous plays.

With the game tied at 1-1 before a record attendance at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdallah, Monday Gift who came on in the second almost won the game for the Super Falcons in Extra-time, but her strike struck the woodwork.

The team held on for over 70 minutes, with 9 players before losing to the Atlas Lionesses.

“It wasn’t the result we wanted but we still give Glory to God Almighty” she wrote on her social media page.

The Randy Waldrum’s side will next face Zambia, who themselves controversially lost to South Africa, in the third place play-off match.
