Emiliano Sala is reported to have been aboard a plane which went missing over the English Channel on Monday night.

Sala, a 28-year-old Argentinian, had on Monday penned a three-and-a-half year deal with Cardiff City. The Premier League side had paid a club record fee to Ligue 1 side Nantes.

According to BBC, a Piper Malibu plane with two people on board went missing off the island of Alderney at 8:30 pm on Monday.

The plane, which had been flying from Nantes to Cardiff, disappeared from radar near the Casquets lighthouse

AFP reported on Tuesday morning that police sources say Sala was on board the plane.

A rescue helicopter and RNLI crews from Alderney and Guernsey were dispatched to search for the plane on Monday night.
