Striker Victor Osimhen admits missing the African Cup of Nations was painful, but he believes, it was the best for him, regarding his fitness.
According to Napoli’s doctor Professor Gianpaolo Tartaro, Osimhen made the confession, following his last check up over the weekend.
Recalled that the former Lille forward was ruled out of action for three months, after sustaining a facial against Inter Milan last November.
The injury eventually ruled the 22-year-old striker out of squad that competed at the ongoing 2021 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
The striker has since returned to the pitch , but not without a face mask arranged by Doctor Tartaro and his team who revealed the conversation he had with the striker after this last visit.
“Victor is ready, and in Venice he will be the starter: yesterday he reiterated to the medical staff that not leaving for the African Cup, even though it was a painful decision, also proved to be the best solution to get back in shape within the estimated time.” Tartaro said.
Osimhen is now ready to start for Napoli against Venezia on Sunday.
