Mikel very committed to leading Eagles to success in Egypt, says Rohr

Super Eagles technical adviser says Captain John Mikel Obi is delighted to be back in the national team and maintained that the former Chelsea man is committed to lead the Eagles again.

Mikel has not featured for the Eagles since 2018 and missed the entire 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifier matches to sparked speculation that he has retired from the national team.

 

However,  Rohr included the 2013 AFCON winning midfielder in his list of 25 provisional squad for camping in Asaba.

 

Speaking to brila.net on the invitation of the 30- year old captain, Rohr said the player is a leader of the team and he’s ready to continue leading the team.

 

” Mikel is here because he’s committed to the national team and he’s ready to continue leading the team,” Rohr said.

 

Meanwhile, the Super Eagles are expected to play a test game with Zimbabwe in the coming days before departing the shore of the country for Ismaily in Egypt to continue preparations for the elite tournament.
