Mikel Stars But Nwakaeme Is Trabzonspor’s Hero Against Rizespor

The Nigerian duo of John Mikel Obi and Anthony Nnaduzor Nwakaeme helped their Turkish Club side Trabzonspor secured a vital victory over Rizespor in Super Lig game on Sunday.

 

Trabzonspor arrived for the game , at the back of their 2-2 draw in UEFA Europa league last Thursday, but the team showed character to defeat Rizespor in a tight contest after coming from a goal deficit.

 

While Mikel was pulling the strings from the middle of the park , Nwakaeme led the line so well and helped the team with his strength and trade mark perfect hold up play.

 

The home side took the lead after 23rd minutes through Dario Melnjak following a pass from Abdullah Durak.

 

Former Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge proved to be game changer for the away side , as he came off the bench to set up Alexander Sorloth for the equaliser in the 75th minutes.

 

Alexander Sorloth then turned the provider , as he assisted Anthony Nnaduzor Nwakaeme who scored in the 90th minutes, before he was replaced.

 

While Mikel enjoyed the entire minute of match, third Nigerian on the book of Trabzonspor, Ogenyi Onazi was missing from the team, as he continued his recovery from injury that has kept him out of action for a long time.

 

 

It was a sweet victory for Trabzonspor who are now third on the log with 12 points from 7 matches, same as Sivasspor in second place, thanks to the their better goal difference.

 

 

Sivasspor and Trabzonspor are two points behind the leaders Alanyaspor who lost 2-0 at Besiktas , but Sivaspor.
