Former Nigeria Captain and Chelsea midfield maestro John Obi Mikel is missing from the list of the best paid African player in the Turkish Super Lig.
The Nigerian midfielder moved to Trabzonspor of Turkey on free transfer this summer, after seeing out his six months loan deal with English Championship side Middlesbrough.
The player signed a two-year deal with the Turkish side with the option of another year, however, the reports from Turkey has it that the financial aspect of the deal is not good enough to put him among the highest-earning African stars in the division.
Meanwhile, Mikel’s former Super Eagles and Chelsea Teammate Victor Moses who’s now plying his trade with Fenerbahce is listed among the top 10 earners.
According to the report, Moses will earn 3.2 million euros (N1.25b) in the 2019-2020 season with Fenerbahce.
The on-loan forward is fifth on the list topped by Algeria’s Sofiane Feghouli who pocket a guaranteed €3.8 million each season which makes him the highest-paid.
Other Nigerians in the division, Ogenyi Onazi, Anthony Nwakaeme, and Azubuike Okechukwu are also missing from the list.
