Nigeria captain, Mikel Obi has undergone successful surgery on an abdominal strain and says he’s looking forward to return to China.

Mikel,30, shared a picture on Instagram, announcing his surgery went well, and while he looks forward getting back soon is gutted he “can’t be on the pitch fighting with my team #TianjinTEDA#TEDAFightingFightingFighting”.

He is also likely to miss Nigeria’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa in June.

 

The Midfielder flew to London where he had the surgery following a lingering abdominal strain (per sports.enorth.com.cn) that kept him out of three consecutive Chinese Super League matches for Tianjin Teda FC.

 

He was initially ruled out for three weeks after news of the injury emerged, but after the surgery, no return date has been set.
