Gernot Rohr has hinted that he’s unsure if his Captain Mikel Obi will available for the round of game at the ongoing African Cup of Nations in Egypt.
The Trabzonspor of Turkey new acquisition picked up injury in Nigeria’s 2-0 loss to Madagascar on Sunday and the Franco-German coach is not taking chances with his captain.
“He has hematoma in the knee,”
“We don’t know how soon he can again play but we wait for the medical team.” Rohr said.
Mikel made a return to the Super Eagles since 2018 World Cup, but the former Chelsea midfielder has been below per so far in Egypt.
He was substituted in the Eagles opener against Burundi, before he was left out of the second Group B game against Guinea.
Rohr reinstated him back into the team for the tie against Madagascar, but the experience midfielder failed to impress once more.
