Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi has returned to training ahead of their quarterfinal clash against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa.
Mikel who was earlier ruled out of the competition due to a knee injury took part in light training during the team’s recovery session on Sunday morning at the Helnan Palestine Hotel.
The former Chelsea midfielder who missed the Super Eagles round of sixteen victory over Cameroon on Saturday, is now back in contention for a place in team for the quarter final clash with the Bafana Bafana of South Africa this Wednesday.
The Trabzonspor of Turkey new signing was substituted in Nigeria’s final Group game against Madagascar and it was reported that he recover in time to play part in the competition.
The return of the influential midfielder is boost for Super Eagles who will face the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in the quarterfinals on Wednesday at the Cairo International Stadium. Kickoff is 8pm Nigerian time.
