Mike Tyson Clears The Air On Jake Paul Fight

Boxing legend, Mike Tyson has described his recent defeat to Jake Paul as a “victory” in a deeply emotional social media post, reflecting on the serious health battles he faced earlier this year.

Tyson, 58, lost to the 26-year-old YouTuber-turned-boxer by unanimous decision in a controversial fight on Friday in Texas.

Despite the 11-year age gap between the two fighters, Tyson’s performance in the eight-round contest was underwhelming, with the former world champion landing just 18 punches compared to Paul’s 78.

As the final bell rang, fans voiced their frustration with boos echoing throughout the stadium, disappointed by the lackluster action.

However, Tyson shared his thoughts on the fight, to offer a different perspective explaining that his return to the ring was a personal triumph after a near-death experience just months earlier.

“This is one of those situations when you lost but still won,” he wrote.

“I almost died in June. Had eight blood transfusions. Lost half my blood and 25lbs in hospital and had to fight to get healthy to fight, so I won.”

Tyson’s physical decline earlier this year was more severe than initially understood. He suffered a flare-up of a stomach ulcer that was so serious it led to the postponement of the fight in July.

Tyson revealed that his health issues were much more critical than originally believed, and the battle to regain his health was grueling.

“To have my children see me stand toe to toe and finish eight rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboys stadium is an experience that no man has the right to ask for,” Tyson added.

Adding Tyson’s defeat to Jake Paul to his seven losses on his record in 57 professional bouts makes it eight career loses in total.
