President of the Nigerian Basketball Federation (NBBF) Musa Kida, has insisted that Mike Brown is still the head coach of Nigeria’s senior national team, D’Tigers.

This is despite the fact that Brown had not been in action since last year while hos Nigerian assistant and Rivers Hoopers head coach, Ogoh Odaudu alongside Mohammed Abdulrahman have been anchored with taking care of business.

At the Pre-Olympic qualifiers the team fell short.

With the scrutiny of the team’s performance the federation boss, Musa Kida, has cleared that the Mike Brown is still under the pay roll of the federation.

“What we also know is that Mike Brown is the head coach of the Sacramento Kings at this time,” Kida said. “When we engaged him as our national coach, he was assistant head coach with the Warriors.

“He had quite a lot of time for us at that time. If you have followed the trend of basketball, NBA basketball last year, you’ll see the Sacramento Kings, they made it to the conference finals.”

“That comes with a lot of hard work, a lot of presence on the team, with the team and even off the court.

“So I know that he had a very hectic year last year. I also know that he did not have as much, I would say, rest period. But having said that, we have not said he is not our coach. He has not resigned. So, he maintains his stand as our officer.”
