MFM FC came through a difficult 6 game winless run to pick up their first league win since March and goal hero, Chijioke Akuneto admits the victory over Rivers United “means a lot”.
Akuneto netted his fifth league goal of the season through a 5th-minute penalty to end the team’s three-game goal drought and a winless run that has seen them pick just three points from a possible 18.
Equally, the win saw them keep pace with the top two in Group A; a point behind second-placed Enyimba and four behind Rangers.
Preparing for Sunday’s home game against Rivers United, who recently cantered Rangers 3-0, was a special drill the midfielder told brila.net.
“The goal and victory mean a lot to us because we needed it and we had prepared very, very well for this game; we’ve been training Monday through to Friday, twice a week for the game.
“So I thank God that we won, and the victory I will dedicate to Him.”
