Lionel Messi failed for the second time on a big stage to inspire his team to victory as Barcelona was stunned in the Copa del Rey final, losing 2-1 to Valencia.
Messi scored in the second half, to give his Barca side a life line after Valencia raced to a 2-0 first-half lead through Kevin Gameiro (21′) and Rodrigo (33′).
The Argentina who finished the 2019 season as the golden boot recipient, had hoped for a domestic double to compensate for the UCL elimination, but he fell short once again.
Watching Messi today is like watching Messi play for Argentina. And that’s not good.

Saturday’s Copa del Rey defeat also ended Barcelona’s streak of four straight triumphs.
Valencia also ended Barcelona’s three-season winning streak of the Cup back in 1954 at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Los Ches thus pick up their first silverware since 2008 and their 8th Copa del Rey trophy.
