Former Nigerian international, Efe Sodje has reacted to the ongoing saga between Kylian Mbappe and Paris Saint-Germain, in light of the humongous offer from Saudi Arabia club, Al-Hilal.

According to the former defender, Mbappe is unlikely to move to Al Hilal despite their massive world record bid of more than €300m accepted by PSG.

Sodje believes that the Frenchman’s preference is to play for Real Madrid, and he will hold out for that opportunity.

The former Huddersfield Town CB points out that the 24 year-old had previously been linked with Real Madrid, and it seems to be the player’s desired destination.

“It is a big offer, but I don’t think Kylian Mbappe will move to Saudi Arabia at young age,” Sodje said on Brila FM’s breakfast show “No Hold Barred with Ifeanyi Udeze”.

“I think the boy wants to play for Real Madrid, that’s his choice, but then it is going to be a long summer for him and PSG”.

The reported offer from Al Hilal, which also states that they will pay Mbappe €700m per year, is indeed a staggering amount.

However, Sodje seems to think that the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner’s ambition lies in playing for a top European club, which is more in line with the career trajectory of a young talent like him.

Mbappe will become a free agent at the end of the next season if he refuses to sign an extension with PSG.
