Manchester United winger Anthony Martial and his Arsenal counterpart Alex Lacazette have both been left out of France’s 23-man squad for this summer’s FIFA World Cup in Russia.
The two players were notable omissions from the list released by manager Didier Deschamps on Thursday.
Olympique Marseille winger Dmitri Payet is another notable omission though his participation was in doubt as a result of the injury he sustained during Wednesday’s UEFA Europa League (UEL) 3-0 final loss to Spanish giants Atletico Madrid.
Five Premier League players made the cut despite the absence of Martial and Lacazette.
The players include Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy, Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante, Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba and Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud.
France are in Group C alongside Australia, Peru and Denmark.
