Mangala, Garay and three other Valencia players including staff test positive for coronavirus

Former Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala is one of five Valencia players and coaches who have tested positive for coronavirus.

Reports also confirmed that Mangala’s team-mate Ezequiel Garay became the first La Liga player to test positive for the virus on Sunday.

The Argentine defender took his social media handle to announced the new development and appeared to be terrified by the news.

Reports later confirmed that five Valencia players and coaches were put into isolation after testing positive.

Ex-Manchester City player Mangala posted: “I knew today that I am Coronavirus positive. At the moment, I’m feelling good and I have no symptoms associated with the virus. However, I am confined in house and have no contact with my family.”

A Valencia statement said the affected players and staff were “in their homes in good health and under isolation measures”.

“We are confident that with solidarity, responsibility and good spirits we will beat this pandemic,” the club added.
