Manchester United are reportedly keen on signing Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen with the Red Devils plotting a player-plus cash deal to sign the 25-year-old Napoli striker.

Both Osimhen and Napoli have made it clear that the Forward will leave this summer.

Osimhen had an exceptional season In the 22/23 season where he led Napoli to their first league win in 33 years scoring 31 goals and 5 assists in 29 matches

He has been linked with clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal and PSG but a report from CalcioNapoli24 states that Manchester United are now very much in the race as well.

According to the report, the Red Devils have offered cash-plus striker Rasmus Hojlund in a deal for the Napoli man, and it will be interesting to see if the Italian giants are willing to accept such an offer.

Hojlund had a challenging debut season at the club following his £72 million move from Atalanta scoring 16 goals 2 assists in 43 matches.

While his performance was respectable, it fell short of expectation, partly due to his susceptibility to injuries.

Napoli’s Transfer Dilemma and Osimhen’s Future

After signing a contract extension with Napoli, the Nigerian’s release clause was pegged between €120m and €130m but that amount has been a problem for suitors, forcing the club to reduce Osimhen’s asking price to €100m.

Napoli have been anticipating offers from the likes of Chelsea, United and PSG, but according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, those clubs have now halted their pursuit of the Nigeria international.

The club also refused an offer of more than €200m for Osimhen from a team in Saudi Arabia last summer.

Napoli find themselves at a critical juncture in the transfer market, with Osimhen’s future holding significant sway over their upcoming business decisions.
