Manchester United manager, Ruben Amorim has shut down rumors linking club captain Bruno Fernandes with a summer move to Real Madrid, insisting that the Portuguese playmaker is going nowhere.
Over the weekend, reports suggested that Los Blancos were preparing a £90 million bid for Fernandes, who has been United’s standout player this season.
However, speaking at a press conference ahead of Tuesday’s Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest, Amorim was quick to dismiss the speculation.
“No, it’s not going to happen,” Amorim stated when asked about the reports. He’s not going anywhere because I’ve already told him.”
Fernandes: The Heart of United’s Midfield
Fernandes, who signed a contract extension until 2027 last August, has been a crucial figure in United’s turbulent campaign.
The 30-year-old has scored 16 goals and provided 15 assists in all competitions this season.
In the week leading up to the last international break, he scored five goals, including a hat-trick against Real Sociedad in the Europa League round of 16.
His overall Premier League contribution of 31 goals and assists this season is only bettered by Mohamed Salah (54) and Erling Haaland (33).
Despite United’s struggles—sitting 13th in the table—Fernandes has been one of the few bright sparks in the squad.
“We Need More Brunos” – Amorim’s Admiration for Fernandes

Amorim has consistently defended Fernandes despite external criticism.
Speaking about Fernandes’ importance to United, Amorim said:
“We want to win the Premier League again, so we want the best players to continue with us.”
“He’s 30, but he’s still so young because he plays 55 games every season. Between assists and goals, he’s always there for 30 at least.”
Amorim also stated that Fernandes is deeply committed to the club, not just as a player but as a fan.
“He is also a supporter of Manchester United, so he really feels it.”
“Sometimes the frustration you see—what everybody sees and maybe says is not a good thing in a captain—is a sign that he wants this so bad. This is the kind of player we want.”
Fernandes’ Loyalty to United
Fernandes has previously admitted that he had concrete offers to leave Old Trafford last summer, but United convinced him to stay.
“The club was aware that there was a possibility of me leaving.”
“I had concrete offers. But the club showed that it needed me, that it was at a time of change, and that they wanted to do things differently.”
With Amorim now in charge, United are in the middle of yet another rebuild, and Fernandes is seen as a cornerstone of that project.
