Nigerian forward, Victor Osimhen was again on target as Lille snatched a 2-1 win against Angers SCO on matchday five in the French Ligue 1 on Friday.
According to the Opta Statistics, the former Under 17 World cup winner has thus become the first player to score 5 goals or more in his first 5 Ligue 1 games since Mario Balotelli in September-October 2016.
Osimhen bagged a brace on the opening matchday against Nantes and scored twice again in his second consecutive home game vs Saint-étienne, before taking his tally to five league goals on Friday night.
The Stade Pierre Mauroy went into a rapturous frenzy after their new number 7 opened scoring on night (39′), bundling the ball home after goalkeeper Butelle spilled a shot by Jonathan Bamba.
Luiz Araujo added a second for the home side in the 53rd minute as Les Dogues marched on their way to a third win in the new season.
But, the visitors will also have their moment, and a 87th minute goal by Cameroon’s Stéphane Bahoken was a mere consolation for the travelling fans.
Meanwhile for Osimhen, the start to life in France has been explosive. The 20 year-old is fast becoming a household name with fans of the club.
He has now contributed to five of the seven goals scored by Lille in the open stages of the Ligue Un campaign.
