Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha has urged the club’s new manager, Ruben Amorim, to prioritise signing Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen.
Saha, a two-time Premier League winner with United, believes Osimhen’s prolific goal-scoring record makes him the ideal solution to the Red Devils’ attacking struggles.
Currently on loan at Galatasaray, Osimhen has repeatedly shown his ability to deliver goals, a quality Saha feels United desperately needs.
Although the Nigerian has publicly stated that he plans to honour his loan deal with Galatasaray until the end of the season, Saha is convinced United should make every effort to secure his services.
“If you look at the stats, Man Utd should go after Victor Osimhen over Viktor Gyokeres, it’s as simple as that,” Saha said.
“He’s been scoring goals for four years at Napoli and has done exactly the same since joining Galatasaray, scoring goals for fun.”
Man United’s current forward options, Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee, have managed just one league goal each this season, a real concern for Amorim.
Saha believes Osimhen’s experience and consistency set him apart.
“Osimhen is a huge character and has the confidence to be a success everywhere he goes.”
“There’s a guarantee with him given the amount of time he has been successful. He is a big-game player and loves the game.
“He doesn’t care how his goals go in; he just wants to score, and that’s what he does. He reminds me of Erling Haaland in that sense. I think he could be what Man Utd need.”
