Udinese Goalkeeper Maduka Okoye is making most of the opportunity handed to him by Jose Peseiro.
Okoye has endured a difficult time in the last two years, losing his place as Super Eagles’ first choice and struggling for playing time at club level.
The 24-year-old also left Watford for Udinese this summer, but he’s yet to make a single appearance for the Italian side.
Okoye last joined the Super Eagles in November 2022 for a friendly game against Portugal, but watched the entire game from the bench.
Despite the turbulent time, he received a late invite from Jose Peseiro to join the squad for the international friendlies against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique.
Although the invite became necessary with no option for a goalkeeper as Olorunleke Ojo was unavailable and Israeli based Goalkeeper Adeleke Adeleye was delayed due to the crisis between Israel and Hamas.
The media officer of the team, Babafemi Raji said Okoye is doing well in training despite not having played in Serie A this season, and his performance is promising.
Okoye has not played a competitive game for Super Eagles since 2021 Africa Cup of Nations round of 16 clash against Tunisia in Cameroon.
