Lookman stars as Dessers and Okereke continue to struggle in Italy

Nigerian forward Cyriel Dessers was in action for Cremonese against Ademola Lookman’s Atalanta in Sunday’s Italian Serie A game.

The striker once again fired blank for the sixth consecutive match in the Italian topflight league.

Signed for €7.4m from Belgian giants Racing Genk in July, Dessers was expected to deliver the goals for the newly promoted side, but after six games, he’s yet to find the back of the net.

On Sunday against Atalanta, Dessers was named in the starting XI at the Gewiss Stadium by coach Massimiliano Alvini.

He was partnered by compatriot David Okereke, and they both had a poor game by all standards.

Dessers attempted just two shots at goal and on both occasions, he failed to hit the target. He completed 0 dribbles, had 16 touches, and seven passes with a passing accuracy of 71.4 percent.

On his part, Okereke played just one 1 key pass, 1 tackle, 1 clearance, and 0 shot and dribble before leaving the pitch for Ghana’s Felix Afena-Gyan in the 68th minute.

As for Ademola Lookman, he was impressive for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side and was the best Nigerian on the pitch.

He started the game and played for 77th minutes, and had one shot on target, two dribbles, and two key passes.

he was a goal threat all day, forcing Cremonese’s defenders to foul him thrice. He made one cross, 33 touches, and 18 passes with a passing accuracy of 72.2 %.

The game ended 1-1, with goals coming from Merih Demiral (Atalanta) and Emanuele Valeri (Cremonese).
