CAF has announced the final five-man shortlist for the 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year award, with Ademola Lookman made the cut.
Lookman, who has been instrumental for Atalanta and the Super Eagles after an outstanding year will aim to bring the award home to Nigeria.
The final five nominees includes Simon Adingra (Côte d’Ivoire/Brighton & Hove Albion), Serhou Guirassy (Guinea/Borussia Dortmund), Achraf Hakimi (Morocco/Paris Saint-Germain), and Ronwen Williams (South Africa/Mamelodi Sundowns).
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has been shortlisted for the Goalkeeper of the Year award after a stellar performance for the Super Eagles in February.
The Super Eagles themselves are in contention for the National Team of the Year award, having reached the final of the 2023 AFCON in February.
The awards ceremony is set to take place on December 16 in Marrakesh, Morocco, with all eyes on Lookman as one of the frontrunners to claim the prestigious Player of the Year title.
