Super Eagles star, Victor Osimhen, supports and banks on his teammate, Ademola Lookman, to become the next African Player of the Year.
It should be recalled that Osimhen is the current holder of the award after an historic performance at both club (Napoli) and International level.
Ademola Lookman had a standout year, shining for Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte d’Ivoire.
The 26-year old winger scored three goals in seven matches for the Super Eagles and was named in the Team of the Tournament.
Lookman’s form continued at the club level with a hat-trick for Atalanta in the UEFA Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen.
Recently, he scored two goals in Nigeria’s 3-0 win against Benin Republic during the AFCON 2025 qualifiers.
Victor Osimhen, in a recent interview stated that Ademola Lookman is fully eligible has the potentials to be the next African Best Player.
“To see Ademola in this kind of situation, I am really happy for him because I know few of his stories, and also in terms of football, he deserves every good thing that comes his way because he’s also a very good guy,” Osimhen said.
“He’s a passionate guy, he does his job diligently. I’m really happy for him but of course we all know he’s going to win the African Player of the Year. One hundred percent for sure, he will win it.”
“I already told him he’s bringing it home and he deserves it as he has done so well for us. It’s a win for Nigeria because he has represented us well. He has carried the team so he deserves his moment and I pray to God that he’s really going to win it,” he concluded.
