Lobi Stars triumph over fierce rivals Nasarawa United in Makurdi

Lobi Stars defeated Nasarawa United 3-2 in week 33 of the Nigeria professional football league encounter played at Aper Aku stadium on Wednesday.

Mathias Martins of Lobi Stars and Nasarawa United’s Silas Nwankwo scored a brace each, but Austin Ogunye was the tie breaker as he netted the winner for the hosts.

Silas Nwankwo gavs the Solid Miners the lead inside opening three minutes after collecting a delightful pass from his teammates.

The hosts however fought back and got their leveller in the 20th minutes, thanks to a super striker from Mathias Martins.

Silas Nwankwo restored Nasarawa United’s lead eight minutes later, but another goal from Mathias Martins in the 35th minutes.

Chinonso Okonkwo was fouled close to Nasarawa United’s area. Samuel Mathias stepped up to drill home the resultant free kick.

Austine Ogunye, however, won the game for Lobi Stars with the third goal, just before the half time.

The brace is Silas Nwankwo’s third of the season and it also take his goals tally to 16 this season.

 

He’s the leading scorer in this season Nigeria professional football league with 16 goals.
