Liverpool defender Andy Robertson has deleted his twitter handle after fans aim vile attacks at him online following Tuesday’s UCL defeat to Napoli.
Robertson was adjudged to have felled an opponent in the box leading to the host’s opening goal in the 2-0 defeat.
Dries Mertens tucked the spot-kick away before Fernando Llorente sealed victory late on for Gli Azzurri.
One tweet read: ‘@andewrobertso5 learn how to f****** tackle idiot.’
Another said: ‘Go f*** a sheep.’
Someone else said: ‘Oi! Robbo fix up man you look a shadow of yourself from last season.’
The decision to award the penalty was controversial with Reds boss Jurgen Klopp believing Jose Callejon dived.
VAR was used to review the decision but did not see a clear and obvious error in order to overturn the decision.
Robertson was a doubt before the game having picked up a knock in Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Newcastle on the weekend.
