Lionel Messi opens up restaurant to the homeless and hungry for 15 days

Despite a disappointing time with Argentina following their unsuccessful Copa America campaign, Lionel Messi who has been heavily criticized for failure to transfer club’s success to the country still finds a reason to give back to his community.
As Argentina is currently facing Economic crisis with the number of women, men, and children hungry and homeless, Lionel Messi has asked those in charge of his restaurant in Rosario, Argentina to open the doors to people who live on the streets and provide them with shelter and food for free.

Lionel Messi’s family restaurant have been providing food and drink for the homeless since Friday and intend to keep it up for 15 days.

“We’ve also been giving out coffee, soft drinks and even some wine to some. We’re going to keep this up for 15 days, every night between 19:00 and 21:00.” restaurant manager Ariel Almada said.

Messi is usually heavily involved in charitable works through his Foundation, in 2018 he entered into a collaboration with another foundation and donated €2.6m to complete the €30m funding for the construction of the SJD Pediatric Cancer Center in Barcelona.

In 2019, ‘The Leo Messi Foundation’ partnered with the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) to support the development of different projects in Kenya.

A project that will reach over 2,000 people in the country, providing access to clean water in primary schools for children and for families in their homes.
