Former Mainz forward Taiwo Awoniyi has been backed by Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp to join Premier League side, Nottingham Forest, this summer.
The Newly promoted Premier League side Nottingham Forest is close to making Awoniyi their first major summer signing in a club-record £17.5m move.
The former Mainz 05 striker finished the last Bundesliga season with 15 Goals and is currently Union Berlin’s record top scorer in the league.
Awoniyi only joined Union Berlin last season after ending his six years of association with Liverpool.
Union Berlin coughed out a club-record fee of £6.8million to sign him and he became an instant hit at the club.
However, Former manager Jurgen Klopp is said to still be a huge admirer of Taiwo Awoniyi following his exploit last season.
According to Callum Castle-Nouvo, Kloop believes he can make an impact in English football.
Awoniyi ended last season as Union Berlin’s top scorer with 20 goals in all competitions.
The only players to score more than him in the Bundesliga last season were Modeste, Nkunku, Haaland, Schick, and Lewandowski.
