English Championship leaders, Leicester City will examine Kelechi Iheanacho to know the extent of his latest injury.
The Nigerian forward sustained muscle injury during Leicester City’s Championship 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town on Boxing Day.
Iheanacho however missed Friday’s 2-0 win at Cardiff City as a result of the injury.
“Kelechi has a muscle problem two days ago,” Enzo Maresca, Leicester City manager told reporters.
“We are still waiting to see if it’s something important or a matter of days. But I don’t think he will be able for the next one (against Huddersfield).
The muscle injury has left Iheanacho’s participation at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations hanging on a thread.
“We don’t know yet (if it will affect his Afcon call-up). It depends on the injury. If it’s an important injury, he has no chance to go. If it’s not important, he can go.”
Kelechi Iheanacho was named in Nigeria’s 25-man AFCON 2023 squad for the tournament.
