JUST IN – Rafael Everton leaves Akwa United

Brazillian coach Rafael Everton has finally parted ways with Akwa United but not without his usual ways of casting aspersions on Nigeria club managers who gave him leverage at his time of need.

Everton’s departure from FC Ifeanyi Ubah after the 2015/2016 Football Season left a sour in the mouth after he helped the Anambra Warriors to win the Federation Cup that season.
His brief romance with Abia Warriors at the beginning of the 2017/2018 season was nothing but unpleasant. As they parted before the commencement of the league season.
The 30-year-old Brazilian was again engaged by Akwa Utd at the beginning of the 2018/2019 NPFL season, but despite posting decent results at the regular League, with Akwa Utd emerging tops in Group B of the abridged league, the true color of the Brazilian reared its head at the NPFL Super Six tournament in Lagos, and the Management of the team led by Elder Paul Bassey suspended him from the team.
Reacting to his sack through his intermediary on his Facebook and Instagram pages, Everton said “we declare our immense sadness, on the lack of professionalism and great confusion on the decisions of the Director(Chairman). He tried severally to interfere in the Coaches job.
Before finishing the Group stage, the Coach tried to resign, but we’re persuaded not to go by the players. At the Super Six, Akwa United was unbeaten in 4 games and would have won the last game against Enyimba and become champions, if Pillars lost. The worst would have been coming out second. Hours before the match, the Coach received a letter telling him to stay away from the team and it’s activities” Everton said.
Continuing, the former FC Ifeanyi Ubah Coach queried” how does a club do that hours to an important match? What was the intention of the Club management?
From the suspension letter until the Coach left for Brazil, the club did not communicate with the Coach, only to receive a termination letter without paying the values agreed in the contract. So through this medium, we express our displeasure with the Management of Akwa United for its lack of professionalism” he concluded.
He however expressed gratitude to the people of Akwa Ibom state and the players for the support given to him.
