Flying Eagles winger, Jude Sunday has explained the importance of the team finishing the 2023 U20 Africa Cup of Nations campaign strongly.
The Flying Eagles banished the agony of their semi-final defeat to Gambia, by defeating Tunisia 4-0 in the third-place playoff, on Friday.
He got a brace, while winger Ibrahim Muhammad and Ahmed Abdullahi contributed a goal each, as the Flying Eagles produced a perfect attacking display at the Cairo International Stadium.
Sunday was adjudged as the most valuable player of the match after the final whistle.
“We lost the semi-final even though we played better, so it was important to win and we thank god for the victory,” Sunday was quoted by CAFonline.
The seven-time winners will now shift attention to the 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup coming up this May in Indonesia.
