West Bromwich forward, Josh Maja was on the scoresheet as his side fell to a 3-2 defeat against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough, on Saturday.

West Brom found themselves trailing early, conceding two goals within the first 25 minutes one from Darnell Furlong’s own goal and another from Josh Windass.

Despite the rocky start, the visitors mounted a spirited comeback in the second half with Maja scoring a crucial header inside the box in the 65th minute, pulling one back for ‘The Baggies.’

Alex Mowatt then levelled the score at 2-2 with a goal in the 84th minute, igniting hopes of a turnaround.

However, Sheffield Wednesday snatched victory just two minutes later, scoring the decisive goal and sealing a 3-2 win.

Maja, who played the full 90 minutes, has emerged as a key figure for West Brom this season.

The 27-year-old Nigerian striker now leads the English Championship in scoring, with seven goals and one assist across just seven appearances.

Defender Semi Ajayi also contributed to the match, coming on as a late substitute for West Brom.

Even in defeat, West Bromwich Albion remains at the top of the Championship standings, boasting 16 points from seven matches, one point ahead of nearest rivals Sunderland.
