Newly capped Super Eagles midfielder Joe Aribo says he’s delighted to play his first game and bagging his first-ever goal for Nigeria on Tuesday against Ukraine.
The 23-year-old made a scoring debut for the three-time African Champions in Tuesday’s International Friendly with Ukraine at Dnipro Arena and went on to play the entire duration of the game.
The game ended in a 2-2 draw with the home side staging a late come back from two goals deficit to prevent their unbeaten record against the African side.
Aribo, who believed the Super Eagles were unfortunate not to run away with a victory, said scoring on his debut is a ‘special day for him and his family’.
“Buzzing to make my debut for the Super Eagles, unfortunate with the result but happy to score on my debut, a special day for me & my family and one I’ll remember. Thank you, God,” Aribo tweeted.
Aribo joined Rangers from Charlton Athletic this summer, scoring four goals in 12 matches in the process.
