Joe Aribo: Besiktas Fly to England for Nigerian Player

Turkish Super Lig side, Besiktas have joined the race to sign Super Eagles midfielder Joe Aribo.

Aribo endured a frustrating debut season with Southampton after arriving from Glasgow Rangers with so much promises.

The Nigeria International started on a front foot but chopping and changing of managers at the club didn’t help his course, but he was dropped from the first team.

Joe Aribo started just 13 out of a possible 38 Premier League games and was on the score sheet twice as the club eventually suffered relegation to the championship.

Besiktas are now ready to pull the Midfielder out of misery at Saint Mary’s, and will make effort to sign the player this summer.

According to the Turkish newspaper Tavkim, Besiktas sporting director Ceyhun Kazanci will travel to England to hold talks with Southampton over the player.

Besiktas qualified for Europa Conference League and there is a need to strengthen the team ahead of next season.

The 26 year-old has three year left on his contract, and Besiktas will have to pay close to the Player’s £9 million fee Southampton paid.
