Super Eagles defender Jamilu Collins has highlighted the endearing attributes of coach Gernot Rohr, insisting the German tactician is a simple man with decent philosophy.
Rohr joined the Nigerian national team in 2016 and has since led the Eagles to two major tournaments – the 2018 FIFA World Cup and last year’s AFCON.
The 66-year-old who was ranked the 19th best national team coach by the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS) in 2019, has overseen 49 matches, winning 29, drawing 11 and losing 9.
While many have criticized the German’s coaching ability, Collins who was speaking in a live Instagram session with Brila FM said the former Bordeaux gaffer is a very good man-manager.
The SC Paderborn of Germany defender also insisted the 66-year-old is a man with a great philosophy and good heart.
“He’s a simple man, with a straight philosophy,” he said.
“When you do the right thing, he tells you everything is good. When he sees that you make some mistake in a place you shouldn’t, he let you know, cheer with you. And the next day for regeneration, he calls you aside and tells you not to repeat the same mistakes.”
Rohr who is in the final three months of his current contract as head coach of the Nigerian national team revealed he has agreed to the terms of the new deal offered by the Nigeria Football Federation.
