Alex Iwobi believes Everton can earn a good result against Leeds United on Wednesday, but admits Frank Lampard’s side have to play a near perfect game.
The Toffees are still in search of their first league win of the season, after four matches.
Frank Lampard’s team endured a disappointing outing last weekend as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Brentford.
Anthony Gordon’s first goal of season had earlier given Toffees advantage at the Gtech Community Stadium, but Mathias Jensen equalized for Brentford with six minutes left to play.
The draw means Everton are winless in the Premier League this season, and Iwobi feels they have to be at their best if they are to end the poor run at Elland Road.
“We have to match their energy and match their fighting spirit,” Iwobi told Everton’s club website.
“We’ve shown that in every game so far. It’s not going to be easy playing away because their fans will be on them to give them that motivation, but it’s another away challenge for us.
“It promises to be a sizzling atmosphere under the lights at Elland Road, particularly as Leeds have started the season in impressive fashion.
“While some visiting player may crumble in that sort of environment, Iwobi believes he will thrive in the atmosphere.
“I enjoy playing under that pressure, it gives me that energy and belief to try and keep them quiet as much as we can,” he said.
“It’ll be another challenge to try and get the three points. It won’t be easy, but all you can do is try.” He said.
Iwobi has played every minute for Everton in the PL this season.
