Iwobi reveals Okocha’s influence on Career improvement

Alex Iwobi has credited his uncle, Austin Okocha for his fine form for Club and Country.

After a slow start to his Everton’s career, Iwobi has become a key figure in Frank Lampard’s side this season, featuring in all Everton’s game.

The Nigerian’s versatility saw him thrive on the flank and middle of the park for the Toffees.

In a chat with the media, Iwobi however credits his famous uncle Austin Okocha for the form.

The former Arsenal midfielder revealed Okocha, who captained Bolton Wanderers, is constantly in touch and always advised him to express himself more on pitch.

‘To have someone like that around me why growing up really helped me, because I see how much football changed his life and how he enjoys it,’ said Iwobi.

“He always tells me to enjoy myself in football, which I always do and nowadays, when I’m talking to him, he just tried to make sure I’m humble and level headed and disciplined on and off the pitch.

 

“We talk on WhatsApp every month and I can say he’s a big influence in my life,” He concluded.
