Iwobi Reacts to Fulham PL Opening Day Defeat to Man United

Nigerian midfielder Alex Iwobi has expressed optimism despite Fulham’s narrow 1-0 defeat to Manchester United in their 2024-2025 Premier League opener.

Iwobi played the entire 90 minutes at Old Trafford as the Cottagers were unable to replicate their 2-1 victory over the Red Devils from last season.

The match seemed destined for a draw until Manchester United’s substitute, Joshua Zirkzee, broke the deadlock late in the game.

Zirkzee, making his debut for United, was introduced by manager Erik ten Hag in the second half and proved to be the difference.

The former Bologna striker capped off a well-executed passing move by slotting home the decisive goal.

Despite the loss, Iwobi emphasized that there were several positives for Fulham to take from the game. Following the match, he posted on social media, stating, “Plenty positives to take.”

Fulham will look to bounce back when they host Leicester City next Saturday.
