Alex Iwobi will be the first Nigeria International to reach the UEFA Europa League semi final in five years after Arsenal secured a 6-3 aggregate win against CSKA Moscow on Thursday.
Goals from Danny Welbeck and Aaron Ramsey saw the English club come from 2-0 to draw and progress having defeated the Moscow-based club 4-1 in London.
On Thursday, Iwobi helped Arsenal stop CSKA Moscow’s charge at the VEB Arena and thus becomes the first Super Eagles star to reach the last four of the competition since Mikel Obi and Victor Moses did with Chelsea in the 2013 season.
Chelsea played against Russian opposition, Rubin Kazan, to reach the semis and Victor Moses was on target in both legs of the tie.
In similar vain on Thursday, CSKA Moscow were hoping to overturn the first-leg bashing and despite having Ahmed Musa in their ranks, the Koni just fell short.
