Iwobi explains why Super Eagles Coach will have Selection Headache

Everton Midfielder Alex Iwobi is backing new Super Eagles Coach, Jose Peseiro to succeed with the team.

Iwobi featured in Peseiro’s first two games in charge of the Super Eagles against Mexico and Ecuador in the United States.

Both games ended in defeats, and Iwobi however played down the results insisting the team is excelling under the Portuguese.

“Despite the two losses we had, we played well in both games and I can say we dominated, but unlucky with the results.” He told brila.net in an exclusive interview.

“With the new ideas, the new coach has brought in, we’ll do well. Although, still early weeks, but We are buying into his idea and so far so good, we enjoyed the time.”

“All the players weren’t there, but the local players and everyone trained hard and enjoyed their time. So I’m looking forward to the qualifiers.”

Peseiro will take charge of his first competitive match when the Nugeria face Sierra Leone in African Cup of Nations qualifiers on Thursday.

The players are currently training under the watchful eyes of the Portuguese and his assistants in Abuja.

“They want to show their ideas and basically understand the Nigerian culture and the players,” Iwobi continued.

“He’s still learning about the players and we are also fighting to keep our place in the team.

“He’s going to have a headache picking his best eleven and a team, but one thing for us is that, we’ll always fight for the team whether in first eleven or on the bench.”
