Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi has unlocked an appearance record in the Premier League, for having played the most minutes by a Nigerian.

The 27-year-old achieved this feat after completing 90 minutes in Fulham’s recent home game against Newcastle United on Saturday.

With this appearance, Iwobi surpassed the previous record held by former Chelsea midfielder, John Mikel Obi.

Iwobi’s total minutes now stand at an impressive 16,289, eclipsing Mikel’s 16,218 minutes.

Having started his career at Arsenal, Iwobi later moved to Everton before joining Fulham last summer. This season, the versatile midfielder has made 25 league appearances for Fulham, finding the net five times.

The achievement highlights Alex Iwobi’s consistency and durability in the Premier League over the years, cementing his place as one of Nigeria’s most prominent footballers in the English top-flight.
